There was good news Friday for a former Christian County Colonel basketball standout. According to CBS Sports Jon Rothstein, the NCAA has announced that Jaylen Sebree has received a waiver and will be eligible to play at Morehead State in the 2020-2021 basketball season.
Sebree, who spent his first two seasons of college basketball at Florida Atlantic, announced in June that he would be transferring to Morehead State.
The 6-foot-6 small forward was a finalist for Kentucky Mr. Basketball in 2017 after averaging 17 points and eight rebounds as a senior at Christian County High School.
He originally committed to Coastal Carolina, but instead attended IMG Academy for a year before signing with Florida Atlantic.
Sebree played in 46 games for the Owls, making 12 starts, but averaged just 5.3 points and 2.7 rebounds at FAU. He scored 9.4 points and grabbed 4.2 rebounds a game as a freshman, but saw his minutes and numbers decrease his sophomore season at Florida Atlantic.
Sebree will have two seasons of eligibility remaining at Morehead State. The Eagles were 13-19 last season, including 7-11 in the Ohio Valley Conference.
