Hopkinsville’s Allison Wood ranks in the top 30 returning cross country juniors in the state according to a list released by Milesplit.com.
Wood’s fastest 5,000-meter time in 2019 was 20:13 at the Owensboro FastCats Invitational, which set a school record. Wood will be attempting to become the first Hoptown girls’ runner to break the 20-minute barrier.
Wood’s time ranks 30th among returning juniors in the state.
Last year, she recorded two top-10 finishes in invitationals and notched a sixth-place finish at the Class 3A Region I Meet. Wood finished 54th at the state meet but knocked 38 seconds off of her region time.
