Lyon County junior Gunnar Bingham will continue his baseball career at Murray State University, making the announcement on social media Tuesday afternoon.
Bingham is an all-district infielder and pitcher for the Lyons, who saw his sophomore season shut down due to COVID-19. He is the second Lyon County junior to commit to play baseball in college, joining Brody Williams who committed to Kent State earlier in the summer.
Bingham hit .286 in 2019 with two homers and 23 RBIs as a freshman. He had a .393 on-base percentage with eight stolen bases. On the mound, Bingham was 3-0 with a 1.96 ERA.
Gunnar’s sister Sophie Bingham signed with the Murray State softball team out of high school in 2018.
Gunnar is also an all-district basketball player for Lyon County.
I am honored to announce that I have commited to further my academic and baseball career at Murray State University. I am thankful to God, my coaches and my family for the support I’ve received. I look forward to being a Racer! #shoesup pic.twitter.com/b3LH36nneF
