Jackson Watts finished in the top five at the Class 3A State Cross Country Meet as a junior. Now, the Madisonville-North Hopkins senior enters the 2020 season as one of the top runners in the state.
Watts is ranked third among all returning seniors in the state according to a list released by milesplit.com.
Watts ran his best time of the season at the Muhlenberg County Mustang Stampede at 15:45 over the 3.1-mile course.
He finished fourth at the region meet and broke through with a fourth-place finish at the state meet. Watts then went on to win the Foot Locker South Regional Junior Division race, just missing his season-best by seven seconds.
