Caldwell Volleyball Ranked Tops in 2nd Region

Caldwell County’s Lady Tigers are the top-ranked volleyball team in the 2nd Region, according to the preseason polls from the Kentucky Volleyball Coaches Association.

Caldwell is No. 1 while five-time defending 2nd Region champion Henderson County is second.

Christian County and Hopkinsville are tied for third while Crittenden County and University Heights Academy are tied for fifth.

No one in the 2nd Region is ranked in the state’s top 25.

Mercy Academy of Louisville is No. 1 overall while Louisville Assumption is No. 2.

McCracken County, from the 1st Region, is No. 14 in the state.

The top five teams in the 1st Region are McCracken, Ballard Memorial, Graves County, Paducah Tilghman and Marshall County.

Caldwell County’s girls will open the 2020 season at home next Thursday, Sept. 10, when they host Hopkinsville at the CAB gym in Princeton.

The Lady Tigers need 23 victories to get to 500 since the program’s inception in 2001. Caldwell has an all-time mark of 477 wins, 191 losses and two ties.

Caldwell has averaged just over 25 wins a year on the volleyball court.

In 19 seasons, the Lady Tigers have won 15 district championships, including the last 13 in a row.

Caldwell has captured five 2nd Region championships and has been regional runner-up four times. Caldwell’s last regional title came in 2011.
