Madison Henderson scored twice, and the Todd County Central defense limited Russellville to two shots in a 4-0 Lady Rebel win Tuesday in Elkton. The victory was the first for Matt Harper as Todd Central soccer coach.
Todd struck first when they were awarded a penalty kick five minutes into the contest when a Russellville handball was called in the box. Jenny Flores banged home the PK for a quick 1-0 Lady Rebel lead.
Todd outshot Russellville 8-1 in the first half but had trouble penetrating a Russellville defense that was packing four defenders back in their own end of the field. The Lady Panthers were also forced to play one man down for the final 69 minutes due to an injury and limited bench.
Henderson began the scoring in the second half with a pair of goals one minute apart in the 62nd and 63rd minute.
Tamiya Foster rounded out the scoring when she cleaned up in front of the goal in the 68th minute.
Todd outshot Russellville 26-2. The margin could have been higher if not for the solid play of Russellville goalie Aliyah Kennedy, who made 17 saves against the aggressive Lady Rebel offense.
Todd goalie Sam Case saved the only two shots she saw.
The win counted for seeding purposes in the 13th District. Todd County will play Monroe County Saturday in the All-A Classic Region Tournament.
