The Heritage Christian Lady Warriors picked up their second straight win to open the season Tuesday night. And, to quote an old commercial line, they got this win the “old fashioned way, they earned it.” After looking like they were going to roll to the sweep, the Lady Warriors then had to hold on tight and pick up the five set win over South Haven three sets to two.
HCA opened the evening rolling through the first set to pick up a 25-18 win. The second set gave a preview of what the rest of the night would look like. Trailing 24-21, Heritage Christian rallied to score the final five points of the set to take the 26-24 win, and apparent control of the match at two sets to none.
However, South Haven was not quite in the mood to go just that quickly. With each team having runs early in the third set, South Haven put the hammer down late in the set to pick up the win 25-18. South Haven kept the momentum going in their direction in the fourth set, winning 25-23, and forcing the deciding 5th set.
Even with the momentum turned in the other direction, Heritage Christian was able to get things turn back in their favor in the final set. HCA was able to close out the match, winning the final set 15-10, and taking the match three sets to two.
Heritage Christian is now set to return to action Thursday evening when they host Oak Ridge.
