The Hopkinsville Tigers ran into a buzzsaw on the pitch at the Stadium of Champions Thursday night, an orange and white buzzsaw at that. The Marshall County Marshals controlled the match for almost the entire night and cruised to a 6-0 win over the Tigers in the season opener for Hoptown.

The Tigers seemed to have things flowing in their direction over the first ten minutes of the match, but were not able to take advantage of that as it pertained to putting the goal in the net. From that point on, Marshall County tightened the defense down, and allowed next to no scoring opportunities for the Tigers, limiting shots on goal to just a handful for the rest of the match.

The Marshals got on the board at the 23:40 mark when Tyler Treas found the net to make it 1-0. William Lynch added a goal at the 33:30 mark to give Marshall County a 2-0 halftime lead.

Ten minutes into the second half, Lynch scored again to extend the lead to 3-0. Treas scored again at the 68:30 mark to push the lead on out to 4-0.

Marshall County added two more goals in the final five minutes of the match to reach the final six goal margin.

Hopkinsville opens the season at 0-1 and will now get ready for a Saturday morning match against Christian County.

Marshall County is now 3-0, and has not given up a goal in those three wins. The Marshals return to action Saturday morning at home against John Hardin.
