Kelvin Joseph going to let people know they are not respecting UK

Kelvin Joseph started his collegiate football career at LSU, a school known for producing big-time defensive backs. However, he’s at Kentucky after transferring and sitting out last year as a redshirt. Joseph said he was proud to have been part of “DBU” at LSU but also warns not to underestimate the defensive backs at Kentucky.

“I am surrounded by a lot of good players and we can do the same thing (at UK as LSU does). We might not be DBU but we are going to show you we are the best DB stepping on the field.”

Joseph was a highly rated high school recruit, one of the best in the nation. His confidence is part of his game and that’s not going to change. Remember he received some preseason all-SEC honors even though he’s never played a game at UK.

“We are going to make a lot of plays for sure. That’s not going to be a problem,” Joseph said.

Has he ever not just said what was on his mind without worrying what opponents may or may not think?

“I feel like I will just say what is on my mind,” Joseph said. “What’s the point of sugar-coating it if I know what to do. I am not going to keep it secret. I am going to let people know that they are not respecting us and that we are on the way and we are not playing.”

All that came during a post-practice Zoom call Thursday with media members.

Then Joseph ended his session with this message to the media: “Nice doing business with you all.”

Maybe the best closing line in a media event I’ve heard for quite a while.
