Conlee Lindsey put together a consistent round of golf Saturday to finish tied for 19th at the All-A Classic State Golf Tournament in Richmond.
The University Heights Academy eighth-grader had one birdie and seven pars over the hilly terrain at the University Club at Arlington course. She finished with a 42 on each side of the course to card a round of 84.
Lexington Christian Academy’s Carter Lankford shot a 3-under 69 to claim the individual state title. Glasgow’s Nina McMurtrey and Lankford’s teammate C.A. Carter tied for second at 1-under 71.
Lindsey got off to a shaky start and was 6-over after her first four holes. She then found her rhythm to shoot even par over her next eight holes. She played bogey golf on her six holes as the course changed from sunny and hot to a pop-up shower on No. 17.
Lindsey improved 14 shots from last year’s tournament, her first at the All-A state level.
