After cruising their way through the 2nd Region All A Classic, the University Heights Academy Blazers suffered their first loss of the 2020 soccer season Monday evening. Ohio County broke open a close game at the half with three second half goals on their way to a 5-1 win over the Lady Blazers on their home field.

Ohio County broke the scoring ice at the 15:40 mark of the contest, when Kendra Calloway drilled a shot from just outside the front left corner of the box to give the Lady Eagles a 1-0 lead.

Ohio County would extend the lead at the 26:00 mark, as Carly Embry put a left footed shot into the net from straight away to make it a 2-0 Lady Eagle lead.

The Lady Blazers got back into the match just two minutes later when Grace Pape launched a rocket from about 30 yards away that got past the goalie to cut the Ohio County lead to 2-1. That would end up being the halftime score.

Ohio County then put an end to what momentum the Lady Blazers might have had when Carly Embry scored a penalty kick at 56:50 to push the lead back out to two goals at 3-1. From that point on, the Lady Eagle defense clamped down hard on the Lady Blazer attack, holding them scoreless in the second half.

Ohio County would add a couple of insurance goals over the final 20 minutes to seal the 5-1 win.

UHA drops to 2-1 with the loss. The Lady Blazers get back to action Saturday night at Trigg County.
