Approaching two weeks into the 2020 boys soccer season, and things are beginning to sort themselves out, a little bit, in the 2nd Region. As we hit the first YSE 2nd Region Boys Soccer Super 7 of the season, the defending regional champs hold a tenuous grip on the number one spot.
– Madisonville (2-1-1) – The defending region champs tied Owensboro, and took a loss to a very good Daviess County team. Watch for September 28, when the Maroons are set to take on Daviess County.
- Henderson County (3-0) – Colonels have given up only one goal over their first three matches. A big one coming up next week as they take on Daviess County.
– UHA (1-0) – Got a big shutout win over Lyon County to win the All A regional in their only action so far. This bunch could be very interesting to watch when the postseason arrives. Big one tonight against Hoptown.
- Hopkinsville (1-2) – After three years of heavy graduation losses, the Tigers are trying to find their footing here early in the 2020 season. The big loss to Henderson shows there is some work to be done.
– Webster County (2-1) – The one that is hard to explain for Webster County is their shutout loss to Hopkins Central. Otherwise, nice wins over Trigg County and Christian County.
– Trigg County (2-2) – Even after four matches is not a bad start for a team that was hit hard by graduation last season. This team could make strides as the season goes on.
- Caldwell County (1-1) – Lost to Mayfield and got a close win over Hopkins Central. Tigers have some “show me” matches over the next few weeks.
