Hopefully the Hopkins Central Storm picked up some bar-b-q to go before their game against Owensboro Catholic Thursday night at Steele Stadium. Otherwise, it was a pretty unpleasant trip to Owensboro for the Storm, as Catholic cruised to a 56-6 win.

Owensboro Catholic scored the first 22 points of the game as the Aces got things started early. Braden Mundy ran for a score and caught a touchdown pass for the Aces’ first two scores to make it 14-0. Catholic then struck on a long TD pass to make it 22-0.

The highlight of the night for the Storm came with 20 seconds to go in the opening quarter when big armed quarterback Adrian Stringer connected on a 79 yard touchdown pass to Jaden Campbell to cut the lead to 22-6.

The Aces found the end zone three more times in the second quarter to extend their lead to 43-6 at the break, and play the second half with a running clock.

Catholic would find the end zone two more times in the third quarter to close out the scoring for the night.

Hopkins Central drops to 0-2 on the season with the loss. The Storm are set to return to action next Friday at McLean County.
