During Thursday’s post practice Zoom conference with Kentucky defensive coordinator Brad White I wondered if there was one particular offensive player who had impressed or surprised him during preseason practice. White admitted it was a good question, one he obviously had not even thought about before.
“I think (receiver) Demarcus Harris has done good things at wide out,” White said. “Those two tackles (Darian Kinnard and Landon Young) are really, really good and we know about (center) Drake (Jackson).
“But jumped out … it is the whole offense because they get so explosive on different levels.”
White paused and then came up with a name I was not expecting.
“Could I say coach Gran?” White said.
Never did I think offensive coordinator Eddie Gran would be the one White chose but he picked Gran because he’s so impressed with the efficiency of the offense.
“I am really impressed with (receiver) Josh Ali out there and his progression from whenI got here to now,” White said. “Obviously our stable of running backs. (Quarterback)Terry (Wilson) has looked real good.”
Then came another bit of a surprise.
“(Freshman quarterback) Beau (Allen) has jumped out. You do not see true freshmen quarterbacks do things he does and it is impressive to see,” White said.
