Jaxon Greer stuck home a loose ball in front of the net in the 70th minute and Hopkins County Central held on to beat Christian County 1-0 Thursday night in Mortons Gap.
Both teams had scoring chances earlier in the contest, but the goalkeepers were solid at both ends of the field — Trevor Weldon at the Storm end and Joshua Settle in the Colonel net.
The contest was pretty even for much of the night, although Hopkins Central generated the better offensive opportunities late in the game before cashing in on Greer’s goal.
The Storm is now 2-3 while the Colonels fall to 0-4.
