The surging Todd County Central boys’ soccer team earned its third win in its last four outings, overturning a first-half deficit to top Lyon County 2-1 on Monday night in Elkton. The Rebels are now 3-4 ahead of a trip to Franklin-Simpson on Tuesday. The 1-3 Lyons will also be on the road on Tuesday in a 5th-District clash with Trigg County.
A free-kick goal put the Lyons on top in the first half, but Luis Herrera pulled the Rebels level with an unassisted goal, and the game was knotted 1-1 at the half.
The defensive battle continued after the break before Chi Herrera collected a long diagonal pass from Clayton Segers and beat Lyon goalkeeper Cole Schroeder for the winning goal. The Todd County defense held the rest of the way, the fourth time in a row limiting an opponent to a goal or less.
