After a draw and three losses to start the season, the Madisonville-North Hopkins girls’ soccer team has now strung together a pair of victories over 2nd Region competition. The Lady Maroons climbed all over visiting Christian County on Monday night, topping the Lady Colonels 8-1.
Lillie Carmen found the back of the net three times in the first half to send Madisonville on its way before Shayla Embry added a fourth. The Lady Colonels trimmed the margin to three on a goal by Alexus Hendrix off an assist from Jasmine Larkins, but they were shut out the rest of the way.
Raelynn Blanford scored on either side of a goal by Abigail Center, before a strike by Lillie Knight wrapped up the scoring. Kara Franklin made four saves and allowed a goal, and Riley Seaton had a save to combine for the win in goal.
The Lady Maroons will play Daviess County home and away over their next two games, beginning with a trip to Owensboro on Tuesday. Christian County will be on the road Tuesday as well, with a matchup with Hopkins County Central in Morton’s Gap.
