Lyon Snaps Losing Streak at Trigg With Overtime Goal

9-22-todd-huddleston

Todd Huddleston’s goal in overtime shocked Trigg County 1-0 Tuesday and gave Lyon County its first win in Cadiz since 2006.

Both teams couldn’t find the back of the net throughout the district contest with Lyon goalie Cole Schroeder making 10 saves and Trigg goalie Joseph Crawford making seven.

Because the game is a district contest used to determine seeding in the district tournament, the game went to overtime where Huddleston took a pass from Timothy Stewart down the right side.  Crawford came out to challenge the pass, but Huddleston beat him to the ball, made a move, and scored.

Because it’s a two-team district, seeding doesn’t matter for the district tourney as both schools automatically advance to the region tournament.

However, Lyon County’s win snapped a six-game losing streak to the Wildcats,  It was also Lyon’s first win at Trigg County since 2006, spanning 15 games.

The win was Lyon County’s first in five games this season.  Trigg County fell to 2-3 and will host Caldwell County Thursday.  Trigg and Lyon play again Saturday morning in Eddyville.
