Will Olivier Sarr be eligible to play at Kentucky this season after transferring following his junior season at Wake Forest? The 7-foot Sarr was considered the nation’s most talented transfer and has got his waiver to play this year from the NCAA. But will the SEC go along with it and let him play? Your guess is as good as mine but the longer it takes, the more I fear the answer is going to be no.
But what if he gets to play? What could Sarr add to John Calipari’s team this season?
New Kentucky assistant coach Jai Lucas has seen Sarr on the court in recent weeks. During an appearance on WPBK-FM Thursday morning, Lucas made it clear he has really liked what he has seen.
“You are going to see a guy who is really skilled for his size and that’s one thing that shocks you watching him,” Lucas said. “He is like a stretch five. He can pop and shoot the 3. He has a nice one dribble move. He is very mobile.
“I thought he was good but would be more of a back to the basket guy and he can do that but he truly is skilled for his size and position.”
Will he get his waiver so he can play this season?
“I don’t know much about it,” Lucas said. “But if he does, he will be very helpful.”
