
Austin Cavanaugh brought home a third place finish at the 42nd Annual Marshall County Cross Country Invitational.
The Trigg County sophomore ran 1.5 miles in 8:11 to finish behind Marshall County’s Cade Flatt and Ethan McCarty. The top three runners were separated by 14 seconds.
The race was shortened from the normal 3.1-mile length due to COVID-19 recommendations from the KHSAA earlier this year that also saw the runners compete in waves throughout the morning to cut down on crowding the field.
Riley Thompson scored a top-10 finish with a time of 8:52. River Oliver was 12th in 8:54, and Marshall Jenkins was 13th in 8:55.
Ryan Simpson rounded out the scoring with a 40th place finish in 9:41.
Trigg County’s team total of 77 points was second only to Marshall County’s team score of 67 points.
