Trigg County’s Hunter Reynolds is headed back to the KHSAA State Golf Tournament after a seventh-place showing Monday at the 1st Region Golf Tournament at Murray Country Club.
The Wildcat junior missed qualifying for the state tournament last year after a trip to Bowling Green his freshman season.
Reynolds shot a 7-over-par 79 on Monday to earn his return to the state tourney at Bowling Green Country Club.
Reynolds carded a 5-over 41 on the front after starting the day with back-to-back bogeys on Nos. 1 and 2.
But he came back to shoot a 2-over 38 on the back nine.
Trey Carr was next for the Wildcats, finishing in 20th place with an 87.
Ty Butts tied for 23rd with an 89, Haydon Reynolds tied for 26th at 90 and Greyson Grissom carded a 98 to tie for 40th.
The Wildcats placed fourth in the team standings with a total of 345.
Marshall took the team title with a 311. Paducah St. Mary was runner-up at 326, one shot better than McCracken County.
Murray was fifth at 364 while Paducah Tilghman was sixth at 391.
