The last time Caldwell County won a football game at Mayfield the starting quarterback for the Tigers was Will Barnes. The Tigers beat the Cardinals 35-7 late in the 2008 season.
Barnes is now the head coach at Caldwell, which visits Mayfield for a key Class 2A 1st District matchup Friday night at War Memorial Stadium.
Both teams are 2-1 and ranked in Class 2A’s Top 10.
Barnes said following practice on Wednesday that the Tigers need a great week of prep work to challenge Mayfield Friday night.
