Allison Wood plays soccer and runs cross country for Hopkinsville High. A recent quarantine by the soccer team also meant no cross country competition for the junior. She returned Saturday in a big way with a third-place finish in the Black Division of the Fenton Dawson Invitational at Trigg County.
Running in just her second 5000-meter race of the year, Wood covered the 3.1-mile course in 21:30. Calloway County’s Ainsley Smith won the race with a school-record time of 19:41.
Eva Blankenberger was the second Lady Tiger runner to cross the finish line in 23rd place with a time of 26:08. Rebecca Wood, who was also quarantined because she plays soccer, finished 26th in a time of 26:54.
Hailey Cordero finished 47th, followed by Jessie Creamer in 50th, Emily Bridges in 51st, and Kaylee Kendall in 57th place.
As a team, Hopkinsville finished in sixth place in the division with 109 points. Marshall County won with 56 points.
