After dropping their last six matches, the Fort Campbell volleyball team got a much-needed victory on Monday night, topping hosts Trigg County 3-0. The Lady Falcon win stretches the Lady Wildcats’ losing slide to five matches, with the two teams set to meet again Thursday in Wildcat Gym.
The first set was tight early on with the Lady Wildcats calling a timeout trailing 6-7, but the Lady Falcons took over from there with an 18-5 run to take the opener 25-11.
Fort Campbell was in control throughout in the second, jumping out to a 12-4 advantage after a kill by Jasmin Jones. The lead was 17-6 after another Jones kill, and the Lady Falcons closed on an 8-4 spurt for a 25-10 win.
The Lady Falcons never trailed in the final set, taking a 13-3 lead after three-straight aces by Haven Habhab. Trigg County pulled to within 9 twice at 7-16 and 9-18, but couldn’t get any closer and fell 13-25.
Fort Campbell will be on the court again on Tuesday when they travel to Crittenden County. The Lady Rockets have taken two previous meetings this season, 2-1 in the All-A region tournament and 3-0 at last week’s wRECk @ the Plex.
