The one-two offensive punch of Lyon County’s Rose Smith and Leah Schroeder was too much for Union County.
Smith scored five goals and Schroeder found the net four times as the Lady Lyons blanked the Bravettes 10-0 Monday night at Lee S. Jones Park in Eddyville.
The game was stopped in the 64th minute after Lyon reached the 10-goal mercy rule.
The Lady Lyons (7-4) got on the scoreboard in the 12th minute on a Schroeder tally and dominated time of possession in the contest.
Union (0-6) rarely challenged the Lyon net.
Smith got her first goal in the 17th minute to make it 2-0 then scored again the 21st minute.
Schroeder got her second goal in the 28th minute while Smith scored her third goal in the 32nd minute to set up Lyon with a 5-0 halftime advantage.
The Lady Lyons picked up the scoring pace in the second half.
Schroeder’s third goal came from about 30 yards out in the 42nd minute to put Lyon up 6-0.
Smith scored on a long shot in the 45th minute.
Schroeder’s fourth tally came in the 49th minute.
Smith got her fifth goal in the 52nd minute, scoring from the top of the box to make it 9-0.
Sydney Hoffman ended the match when she sent a long shot over the Union keeper and into the net in the 64th minute.
Mary Beth Davis had two assists for the Lady Lyons while Anna Crawford added another helper.
Maddie Russell had to make just one save in the Lyon net to earn the shutout.
The Lady Lyons have won seven of their last eight outings, outscoring those opponents 43-8.
Lyon’s girls will finish the regular season on Tuesday when they host Graves County as part of a girls and boys doubleheader.
