When she stepped down as Trigg County softball coach in May 2019, she stated “I will be back someday. I love it too much.” Someday appears to have come for Toree McMain. The Marshall County softball program announced Wednesday, in a social media post, that McMain would be joining the Lady Marshal’s coaching staff.

Trigg County had won 93 games in the 20 years prior to McMain taking over as coach in 2015. The Lady Wildcats were 11-16 in her first season as coach, which was the most wins for the program in 11 years.

They set a school record for wins in the fast-pitch era with 17 in 2016, which included a win over Crittenden County in the district tournament and their first trip to the region tournament.

The 2018 team established another school record for wins with 22 and made another trip to the region tournament.

Playing against a beefed-up schedule in 2019 with a senior-laden team, Trigg County went 17-17. They beat four teams – Graves County, Muhlenberg County, Lyon County, and Daviess County – that played in their respective region championship games.

McMain’s five year record at Trigg County was 82-81.
