After speaking to Elizabeth Pitts for just a few seconds, you understand why the Heritage Christian Academy senior plans to study communications in college.
Pitts is not only a well-spoken student-athlete, but she also has the ability to put her thoughts on paper in a creative way. She was one of two national finalists in the 2019 Scope Write a Story contest out of over 1,500 entries.
She is very active in clubs at Heritage Christian Academy and serves on the Mayor’s Youth Council. Over the summer, she was a Kentucky Governor’s Scholar. Although COVID-19 altered the program, she was able to spend a week at Centre College.
Pitts is the lone senior on the Heritage Christian Academy volleyball team and was named to the All-Region team last year. Her athletic ability has led HCA Coach Matt McGowan to try and recruit her to the basketball team as well. We’ll know in a few weeks whether his recruitment was successful.
She is in the process of trying to complete her college visits with a global pandemic making things tougher than normal. Her senior year includes a full course load, athletics, and a busy civic schedule. And she has shown that she can handle everything thrown at her gracefully.
