Kentucky defensive coordinator Brad White didn’t mince words about what has to happen for the Wildcats and happen now after an 0-2 start. Kentucky has not forced a turnover in two games and couldn’t get an overtime stop against Ole Miss that would have won last week’s game. The Cats have also given up seven scoring passes — the same number they gave up in 13 games last year
“It’s on all of us right now. We are all grinding from top to bottom from players to coaches trying to find out what our identity is this year,” White said Wednesday. “Every team has its own identity. Every defense has its own identity.
“Right now we have to find ours and find out who we are. It’s all easy when things are going great. We have to do now like we did last year. We hit a skid last year (after Terry Wilson was hurt) and the guys said enough is enough and galvanized.
“We don’t have time to wait for the bye week. We have got to get this fixed because we have a lot of good teams coming up starting this week.”
White said creating turnovers has to be a priority, especially with UK giving up more big plays this year.
“Absolutely we need to make more plays. We have gone two games and not forced a turnover. That’s unacceptable and has not given our offense an opportunity to have a short field,” White said.
