The matchups for girls’ soccer district championship games will officially be set following action across the area Tuesday evening. Semifinal round play is set for the 5th District, the 7th District, and the 8th District as the playoffs push forward.
In the 5th District, the Trigg County Lady Wildcats and the Crittenden County Lady Rockets will meet in a semifinal in Marion at 6:00pm. In their regular season contest, the Lady Wildcats took a 5-2 home field decision. The winner will play Lyon County for the 5th District title Thursday night at 6:00.
The 7th District will feature a crosstown battle in the semifinal round Tuesday night. Madisonville-North Hopkins and Hopkins County Central will meet on the Lady Storm’s home pitch at 6:00pm. The Lady Maroons shutout the Lady Storm 5-0 in their earlier meeting back on September 19. The winner will move on to take on Caldwell County in the district title game Thursday at 6:00pm.
In 8th District play, in only their 3rd game since being shutdown for more than two weeks due to COVID-19 concerns, the Hopkinsville Lady Tigers will take on the Christian County Lady Colonels in a semifinal battle at 5:00pm at University Heights Academy. The two teams met back on September 15, with Hopkinsville holding on for a 1-0 win. The winner Tuesday night will get UHA in the championship game Thursday evening at 5:00.
