Caldwell County finished the regular season with a pair of volleyball wins while honoring a pair of players for reaching milestones.
The Lady Tigers will carry a 15-5 record into the 7th District tournament next week after dispatching Todd County Central and Warren East by identical 3-1 scores Saturday at the Community Activities Building gym in Princeton.
Caldwell shook off a slow start in it first match to come back and defeat Todd Central 13-25, 25-16, 25-13, 25-17.
Olivia Mitchell had 17 kills, three blocks, 11 digs and an ace while Abby Griggs recorded 16 kills, two blocks and two aces.
Kendyll Prowell finished with 39 set assists while also adding two digs.
Riley Thomas had a team-high 13 digs to go with five aces while Kynady Thomas recorded three saves.
Mary Tays had two kills, four digs and one set assist. Savannah Scott also recorded two kills.
Adi Sullenger tallied six aces and four digs while Maggy Griggs had an ace.
Todd (9-9) was led by Lucy Chester’s 14 kills anda block. Presley Conquest and Lanie Bivins each added nine kills while Addleigh Wofford had 28 assists and Meredith Drummond had 15 digs.
After the match, Riley Thomas was recognized for recording her 1,000th career dig in action last Saturday against Bowling Green at Christian County.
Caldwell then got off to a good start against Warren East while winning by scores of 25-21, 25-20, 23-25, 25-11.
Mitchell had 23 kills and 12 digs in that contest while Griggs had 13 kills, four blocks, three digs and two aces.
Prowell recorded 43 set assists and also had eight kills, nine digs and two aces.
Riley Thomas totaled 17 digs along with a kill and two aces while Kynady Thomas had two blocks.
Scott recorded two kills, three blocks, two digs and an ace. Tays had two kills, 10 digs, a set assist and an ace.
Sullenger added a kill, four digs and an ace.
Warren East is now 10-9.
Following that match, Caldwell recognized Mitchell for topping 1,000 career kills.
The Lady Tigers will play again on Thursday in the championship game of the 7th District tournament at Hopkins County Central.
As the No. 1 seed, Caldwell not only goes straight to the district title tilt, but has already earned a berth in the 2nd Region tournament the following week.
