Tomas Duncan prepared for the upcoming region cross country meet by winning the Kentucky Track and Cross Country Coaches Association Meet of Champions Saturday at the Bourbon County Park.
Duncan bettered 46 other runners in the Class 1A race by covering the course in a new school-record time of 16:06. He was 51 seconds faster than second-place Drew Hurley of Pikeville. Livingston Central’s Carson Kitchens, who will oppose Duncan at the region meet, was third in 17:04.
UHA eighth-grader Tobias Duncan cracked the top-10 with a tenth place finish in 18:01. Chase Hendricks was 19th in 18:56, and Nick Luckey was 24th in 19:47. Ray Farmer was 34th in 21:53.
The Blazers finished second as a team with 68 points, which was five points behind winner Pikeville.
UHA will run in the Region I Meet Saturday at Calloway County.
