Madisonville-North Hopkins scored six first-half goals on 12 shots and went on to blank Christian County 8-0 in the first round of the girls’ 2nd Region tournament Tuesday night in Henderson.
The Lady Maroons (7-6-2) will take on Trigg County (8-3-1) in Wednesday’s 8 p.m. semifinal match. The Lady Wildcats advanced with a 1-0 shootout win over Webster County in Tuesday’s other opening round matchup.
Abi Center, Kennedy Justice and Raelynn Blanford each had two goals for Madisonville. Center and Blanford also had one assist apiece.
Kylee Coyle and Emma Peyton each had a goal and two assists.
Lillie Carman also assisted on a pair of Lady Maroon goals while Lilly Pluimer had an assist.
The game was scoreless until the 10th minute when Peyton got the scoring started for the Lady Maroons.
Justice and Kennedy each scored both of their goals in the first half.
Coyle’s tally came in the 38th minute to help Madisonville get to halftime with a 6-0 lead.
Center scored both of her goals after the break.
Kara Franklin had to make just one stop in the Madisonville net.
Christian ends the season with a record of 3-9-1.
