
Hopkins County Central will send five runners to the state cross country meet following their runs at the Class 2A Region I Meet at Calloway County High School Saturday.
Brendan Harper led the Storm runners with a 19th place finish in a time of 19:41 over the 3.1-mile course. Brody Duncan finished 22nd in 20:26. Both Harper and Duncan qualified for Friday’s Class 2A State Meet in Paris.
Kaleb Gamble finished 26th in a time of 20:59, while Mason McConnell came in 35th, and Sam Martin was 37th.
Hopkins Central totaled 139 points to finish sixth as a team.
On the girls’ side, Hopkins Central will send three runners to the girls’ state meet. Raven Miller finished 17th in a time of 26:27 over the 3.1-mile course. Siena Welch came in 21st place, and Shelci Cabarrero-Hernandez finished in 23rd place. Those three will run in the Class 2A State Meet Friday.
Sarah Keown finished 27th for the Lady Storm, and Jaclyn Egbert was 29th.
As a team, Hopkins County Central totaled 117 points and finished fifth.
