Led by region player of the year Katie Howard, Greenwood knocked off Todd County Central in straight sets to open play in the 4th Region Tournament Monday at Russell County High School.
The Lady Gators scored a 25-13, 25-12, 25-8 win over the 13th District runner-ups. Greenwood, who missed two weeks due to a COVID-19 quarantine, has won six of eight since returning, including the 14th District title. The two-time defending region champs improved to 9-6.
Todd County Central, making consecutive region tourney appearances for the first time in four years, see its season end with a record of 10-12. The Lady Rebels have no seniors on its roster as they look to take the program’s next step in 2021 and win their first district title.
