Jay Nimmo played 71 holes of bogey-free golf over the weekend at Paducah’s Paxton Park. A bogey on his 72nd hole was not enough to topple the Marshall County senior from the top of the Cullan Brown Invitational leaderboard.
Two birdies on the front nine were the difference as Nimmo shot a 1-under to beat Vanceburg’s Logan Liles by two shots. Rylan Wotherspoon of Florence, who Nimmo beat in a one-hole playoff to win the 2020 KHSAA state title, was third at 5-over.
The two-day event at Paducah’s Paxton Park, organized by the Bluegrass Golf Tour, raised over $10,000 for the Cullan Brown Memorial West Kentucky Development Fund for youth golfers. Brown was a state champion from Lyon County and All-SEC freshman at the University of Kentucky who died from a rare form of bone cancer earlier this year.
