Tomas Duncan wrapped up his high school cross country career with a fourth-place finish Saturday at the KHSAA Class 1A State Meet. The event was held at the Bourbon County Park after more than four decades at the Kentucky Horse Park.

The University Heights Academy senior ran the 3.1-mile rolling course in 16:52.  He ran in the lead pack the entire race before Louisville Holy Cross senior Josh Meiman pulled away in the final mile and won with a time of 16:16.

Duncan also finished fourth at the state meet as a junior which are the best finishes for a UHA cross country runner in the program’s history.

His younger brother Tobias finished 16th in a time of 17:46. Duncan, an eighth-grader, had the best time of any middle schooler that ran at the meet.

Chase Hendricks finished 98th in a time of 19:32. Nic Luckey just missed breaking the 20-minute mark with a 125th place finish in 20:02.  Ray Farmer rounded out the Blazer runners with a 198th place finish.

As a team, UHA finished 14th with 380 points, which was the same as region champion Dawson Springs.  The Panther won the tie breaker for 13th place because they had a sixth runner score points.  UHA only had five runners begin the race.
