Following the final round of the inaugural Cullan Brown Invitational Golf Tournament, Lyon County sophomore Cathryn Brown received the first “Cullan Brown Sportsmanship Award” from the Bluegrass Golf Tour.

The award, named for Cathryn’s late brother, was given to the girls’ golfer that best embodied Cullan’s traits of integrity, friendship, and sportsmanship both on and off the golf course.  Cullan was a state golf champion at Lyon County and earned All-SEC freshman honors at the University of Kentucky.  He died earlier this year after a nearly year-long battle with a rare form of bone cancer.

The two-day event at Paducah’s Paxton Park, organized by the Bluegrass Golf Tour, raised over $10,000 for the Cullan Brown Memorial West Kentucky Development Fund for youth golfers.
