Trigg County High School anglers Thomas Hawkins and Brayden Jones finished second Sunday in the second of six Student Angler Federation [SAF] qualifier tournaments.
Hawkins and Jones caught three fish weighing a total of six pounds on Kentucky Lake. Their big bass weighed 3.1 pounds.
The team of Landon Morgan and Ross Kerns won the qualifier with four bass that weighed 9.8 pounds. Rachel Holmes and Madison Jeffery were third with 5.6 pounds.
Trigg County’s Hunter Shelton and Jordan Hampton finished in sixth place with two bass weighing 3.1 pounds.
Hawkins and Jones join the duo of Shelton and Hampton as the only Trigg County High anglers to qualify for a tournament on the national level.
Their finish qualifies them for the SAF National Championship next summer on Lake Hartwell, South Carolina. Their boat captain was Jason Hawkins,
