UK fans had positive role on Skyy Clark picking Cats

Sometimes a player can be overwhelmed by the fan and media attention at Kentucky. Not Skyy Clark.

The 2022 point guard who recently committed to UK said today on WLAP Sunday Morning Sports that Kentucky fan reaction played a role in his decision to come to Kentucky.

“Obviously the love I got from BBN. Unmatchable,” the 6-2 point guard from Nashville said when listing reasons he picked UK.

He recalled his unofficial visit to UK last season when the Cats beat Auburn and said it was “nothing like any experience” he had before.

Clark did something other top recruits may have done but I never knew about it. He said when he released his list of his final four schools, he made a separate social media post for each team.

“I wanted to see which fan base welcomed me more,” Clark said. “UK had the most likes, comments and retweets by miles.

“It just showed another reason this place is best for me.”

He also emphasized again that he was in no hurry to decide if he would stay in the 2022 recruiting class or move to the 2021 class. He admitted Texas power forward Daimion Collins’ commitment to UK Saturday did make him think power about a 2021 reclassification.

“Right now I am saying 2022, but depending on COVID and how the season goes that might change,” he said.

He says COVID made his recruiting “super weird” because he could not make official visits before he picked UK.

“It definitely made things harder. I did virtual tours of campus and they had Google maps to show me around. It was weird, but I got through it and I am happy to be committed to Kentucky,” Clark said.
