The increasing number of COVID-19 cases appears to be causing havoc with, if not completely putting at risk, the high school football postseason. Officials with the Calloway County Schools announced Friday that they would not be participating in the high school football playoffs due to the ongoing pandemic.
The Lakers had been scheduled to host Hopkinsville next Friday night in Murray, as Calloway County was the #2 seed and Hopkinsville the #3 seed.
Officials with the Hopkinsville football program tell YourSportsEdge.Com that they have been informed the Tigers will now be the #2 seed in the Class 4A playoffs and will host Hopkins Central next Friday at the Stadium of Champions.
Madisonville-North Hopkins, which was not going to be in the playoffs, in turn, could possibly move to the #4 seed, which would have them scheduled to travel to Logan County next Friday night. Officials with the Maroon program told YSE they were working to confirm that possibility.
