Not enough magic for UK to also put together virtual Women’s Clinic

For many University of Kentucky female fans the annual Women’s Clinic is one of their favorite events of the basketball season. While Kentucky has managed to work out having a virtual Big Blue Madness and Pro Day in the next two weeks, there will not be a virtual Women’s Clinic as some women have suggested to me they would like to see.

One Kentucky official reached out to me to explain why the logistics would just make the clinic possible during the pandemic. Instead, he said just preparing to host a season along with preparing for the virtual Madness and Pro Day is almost more than UK staff members can handle.

“We are working around the clock with all the challenges we already face and had to pull off some magic to pull off these two events (Madness and Pro Day) in the middle of the pandemic,” he said.

Not only that, but more magic will likely be required to help hold the season together with the demands on UK basketball.

Kentucky basketball was not able to host any camps like it usually does during the summer. Same with a clinic like the Women’s Clinic that normally would be held in October.

“We are doing our best to introduce our players to our fans under the limitations we have,” the UK official said.
