Less than 24 hours after the end of their season was announced, the Calloway County Lakers’ season may not be done after all. Following Saturday morning’s announcement by the Kentucky High School Athletic Association that the football playoffs would be delayed a week, the CCHS Football Touchdown Club, a Twitter account for Calloway County football, tweeted that the Lakers may be playing in the postseason after all.

The Tweet stated “as of now, we are back in it.” Additionally, it stated that decisions would be made Sunday as to when the team might return to practice.

The decision does affect just Calloway County. The Hopkinsville Tigers had announced Friday afternoon that Calloway County’s decision to drop out meant they would move up to the #2 seed, which would set up a home game against Hopkins Central. That would also have allowed Madisonville to get back into the playoffs and travel to take on Logan County.

If the Lakers decide to play after all, Hopkinsville would then travel to Calloway County for a first round game, while Madisonville would be back out of the playoff picture.
