Lyon County senior Cole Schroeder has been announced as a 2020 Heisman High School scholarship “school winner.”
This honor is in recognition of outstanding achievements in academics, athletics, and community service.
Schroeder was an All-District goalie for the Lyon County soccer team.
The Heisman High School Scholarship program extends the Heisman prestige to the nation’s most esteemed high school seniors by celebrating and rewarding outstanding male and female scholar-athletes who understand that the most important victories happen not only on the field but also in their schools and communities.
The High School Heisman Award was sponsored by Wendy’s for several years until Acceptance Insurance took over sponsorship of the award in 2020.
A statement on the high school Heisman website said —
“Our senior scholar-athletes have been forced to make many sacrifices during the crisis, but being recognized and rewarded for their remarkable accomplishments to date will not be one of them. This year, The Heisman Trophy Trust along with Acceptance Insurance is proud to continue the 26-year tradition of honoring the nation’s most esteemed high school seniors and supporting high school academic and athletic programs across the country through the Heisman High School Scholarship.”
