OVL Releases 2021 Schedule, Hoppers to Open June 4 at Home

The Ohio Valley League has announced its schedule for the summer collegiate baseball league that will begin its 10th season in 2021.

The Hoptown Hoppers will open the 2021 season against the OVL’s newest franchise the Full Count Rhythm on Friday, June 4. All Hopper home games will begin at 6:30 with the exception of Sunday games at 6 pm.

The Hoppers’ first road game will be Saturday, June 5 at Paducah.  Hoptown’s longest homestand will be four games June 19-23.  Once again, the league will use Mondays as an off day or a make-up day for rainouts.

The Hoppers will make their first trip to Hendersonville, Tenn. to play Full Count on Saturday, June 19.  They will play their first game of the season at Dubois County on Saturday, June 26.  The Hoppers will be home on July 4 against Paducah.

The Hoppers are also expected to compete head-to-head with the Western Kentucky State Fair on at least four nights in late June and early July.

The OVL will play in two five-team divisions – North and South. The Northern division will include Dubois County, Henderson, Madisonville, Muhlenberg County, and Owensboro. The Southern Division will include Franklin, Full Count [Hendersonville, Tenn.], Fulton, Hopkinsville, and Paducah.

The regular season will be 44 games. Each team will play the teams in their division six times (24 games) and the teams in the opposite division four times (20 games).  The OVL will keep the same playoff format with every team eligible for the postseason.

The Hoppers were scheduled to play the 2020 season at Christian County High School before COVID-19 caused the entire summer baseball season to be canceled.  Team officials have said the Hoppers will play the 2021 season at CCHS.
