Limitations in facility use will continue for the time being at the indoor facilities operated by the Hopkinsville Parks & Recreation Department. Officials announced Friday afternoon that for second week in a row, the department will limit activity at its indoor facilities, due to a steady
local uptick in COVID-19 cases and Christian County’s continued “red” status within Kentucky’s Incidence Rate map.

The rollback has been in place since Monday, November 9 and will continue indefinitely.

Open gym sessions, classes, events, rentals and gatherings at the Planters Bank-Jennie Stuart Health Sportsplex and Thomas Street Recreation Center will cease for at least one more week. With the guidance of the Christian County Health Department and local officials, Hopkinsville Parks and
Recreation will continue to evaluate these closures on a weekly basis.

The Sportsplex will still allow free walking from 8am to Noon each weekday, as well as socially-distanced batting cages for baseball, softball and golf. Masks and face coverings will be required for all visitors at all times.

Additionally, the Sportsplex is altering its hours of operation, which will temporarily be 8am-Noon (Monday-Wednesday), 8am to 7:30pm (Thursday-Friday), Noon to 5pm (Saturday), and closed on Sunday.

Outdoor facilities, such as the Hopkinsville Greenway Rail Trail, Hopkinsville Skatepark, Hopkinsville Dog Park and Tie Breaker Athletic Park Walking Trail, will remain open as usual, with CCHD guidelines and recommendations remaining in place.
