Maybe Kentucky football fans are feeling apprehensive about what might happen to the Cats in the final four games but safety Yusuf Corker says the mood among the players is one of excitement.

“We are itching to hit somebody and make plays,” Corker said Wednesday about Saturday’s game with Vanderbilt. “The message for the rest of the year is to be the best defense we can be, hit on all cylinders and do the little things right.”

Kentucky has lost two straight games and still has to play Alabama, Florida and South Carolina after it plays Vanderbilt — barring any games being changed due to COVID-19 concerns.

“I feel like we are pretty motivated. Nobody is going to hand you anything. There’s not time to sulk or feel sorry for yourself,” Corker said.

Kentucky defensive coordinator Brad White said he has not had “any issues” motivating his players.

“The focus is no different than we were talking before our week three game. There’s not m much I need to do for motivation,” White said. “If you cannot get motivated to turn this around you are playing the wrong sport and quite frankly playing in the wrong defense.

“Guys have been focused this week and we have to play at our best to do what we want to do. It is important that we show up ready to go and play 60 really good minutes of football. If we can get things cleaned up we have got a chance to be pretty good down the stretch.”
