Christian County’s wrestling team is ranked third in the preseason by Kentuckywrestling.com with three Colonels topping their respective weight classes.
Austin Grant-Hall, Gage Fowler, and TyDarius Kelly are ranked No. 1 in their class for 2020-21.
Fowler finished second to Union County’s Trace Eckman at both the region and state level. He is ranked second behind Eckman in the 120-pound class for 2020-21.
Grant-Hall finished third in the region in the 138-pound class last year and went on to claim a fourth-place finish at state.
Kelly finished second in the region behind eventual state champion Matthias Ervin of Union County. Kelly went on to finish fourth at state.
Two other Colonel wrestlers are ranked in the to five. J.T. Adams is ranked third at 195 and A.J. Harvey is fifth at 220.
Adams finished third at region in the 170-pound class last year and was seventh at state. Harvey was third in the region at 195 in 2020 and was sixth at the state meet.
JaRi Campbell captured a top-10 preseason ranking. He is sixth in the 106-pound class after a second-place finish at region last year.
Three other wrestlers earned a preseason ranking. Mason Kellett is 13th at 132, Nathan Hale 20th at 113, and Caleb Anderson 21st at 170.
Christian County was the state runner-up last year. They enter 2020-21 ranked third in the state and fifth in the dual rankings.
The KHSAA sent down guidance for wrestling to its member schools on September 30.
No intra-squad scrimmaging may be conducted and no preseason scrimmages will be allowed.
As of now, the first official contest can be held on December 7 with no more than three matches in a given week.
The guidelines also state that wrestlers must wear a mask or face covering everywhere except for the mat when wrestling. Coaches must wear a mask at all times.
