Officials with one of the in-state basketball championship tournaments have announced their decision not to conduct this year’s event. The announcement from the Kentucky 2A Championships came down Friday afternoon in a social media post.
The statement notes that the combination of the increasing numbers in the COVID-19 pandemic and the Kentucky High School Athletic Association’s decision to delay winter sports until at least January 4 made it not “feasible” to conduct this year’s boys’ and girls’ championships.
They added they will now look forward to moving on to the spring 2A Championships, which are scheduled to take place in Owensboro.
