Pickle Winkler took a load off her shoulders last week when she committed to the University of Louisville.
Winkler cited the Cardinal program and her relationship with assistant coach Griffin Joiner as the deciding factors in her decision. Joiner is a former Kentucky Miss Softball who owns many of Christian County’s softball records.
Winkler, who lost her sophomore season to the COVID-19 pandemic, hit .424 with two home runs and 22 RBIs as a freshman. She led Christian County in stolen bases with 30.
By committing early, Winkler can concentrate on just playing softball for the next two years. But first things first. She just wants to take the field in 2021.
