Trigg County’s Austin Cavanaugh was named the Area 1 Class 2A Runner of the Year by the Kentucky Track and Cross Country Coaches Association.
Cavanaugh became the first Trigg County runner to win the boys’ region title since 1987 and finished sixth at the state meet, the highest finish for a Wildcat runner since the school moved the Class 2A.
Cavanaugh was also named 1st Team All-Area that encompasses all three classes and Class 2A All-Area.
In addition, Reese Bush and DeDe Barbee were both named to the girls’ Class 2A All-Area Team.
